mp4 video not working on my computer

I took video with my Z1 and I wanted to edit it. It would not load up in all the video viewers or in my video editor. Needs a codec? Thought it would go seamless onto a PC? Has anyone had this problem and is there a solution? I want to see them on my PC and I want to edit them and not just view them....

You have to download the correct codec on your PC, that's all

Do you know its name? Or easiest way to do it as my pc isn't telling me what codec.

Open the video with WMP it should give you the option to download the codec
