Hi,
After doing a factory reset on a sony experia, the messages app/programme disappeared. The messages icon is nowhere to be seen and I can neither receive or send sms. No alerts come through either. I've reset settings and factory settings twice since this happened but it still hasn't come back. I'd appreciate any help.
Thanks,
mclimi
You may need to perform a software repair using PC companion. The process will erase all internal memory. You might need to charge your device for about 1-2 hours before so the device has at least 60% battery.
Make sure the device is not connected to computer or laptop and turned off (sometimes you have to press power button and volume up until the device vibrates 3 times or on some devices you have to press the small button near the SIM tray or on the back of the device).
Open PC companion->support zone->phone/tablet software update->repair my phone/tablet blue highlighted.Follow the steps given,do not connect your phone until prompted to press volume down while plugging USB cable. If PC companion does not start the repair process, you might need to run it in compatibility mode with Windows 7 (in some cases XP).
What if you
settings > apps > all > scroll to the bottom, is the messaging app there?
No, it's nowhere on the list for apps unfortunately!
I'm not having any luck getting my phone to connect in PC companion either to complete the software repair!!
That's really weird, the only explanation is that you rooted your phone > deleted the messaging app.
Could you elaborate on the issue?
It's a borrowed phone and when I first put my sim in, the messagng app was there but accidentally factory reset and ince then it's no longer on the phone. I can make and receive calls but not texts. Let me know if I can give any more info!
Download any other messaging app, handcent, google voice, you can even use hangouts to send and receive SMS
That's great!!!! I've downloaded handcent and it's working great thanks!
