Not registering SD card?

Hey there. Pretty much I have two issues, the first has already been solved but I'm just wondering of the chance of it occuring again?

First issue being that the screen on the phone flickered, shut off and never came back on. The light at the top remained orange even when not charging and no amount of turning off or on would change the fact it had become a brick. After doing a reset (power button and volume up) the problem ceased and the phone returned to normal. What is the likelihood of this happening again? Is it just a one time thing or could something be wrong with the phone?

Secondly, the current issue. All of a sudden today the phone popped up saying that an SD card had been removed and it was telling me to insert a new one. After taking it out and putting it back in, the card still wasn't being recognised. I've tried powering it off normally and also doing a reset. Neither of these have worked. I have also tried going into settings and selecting Mount SD card, but it is greyed out and tells me to insert one.

What can I do to resolve this?

Do you have a secondary SD card you can test in the phone so that we can narrow down the cause of the problem?

Tested out another card to no avail. However, put mine back in afterward and it's now suddenly working again? :S

Can't complain, just hope it's not a recurring thing.

Glad to hear that but please do keep an eye on it as it may be an issue with the memory card reader which would require repair.

Hi, I've got a similar issue. I bought a 16GB micro SD card for my Sony Xperia Z1 but it never worked, when I inserted it into the phone, the phone didn't recognise anything with "mount SD card" greyed out. 2 months later I bought a new Sd card assuming the other one was faulty, and the new SD card worked fine.... For a day. Halfway through transferring some music from the internal storage to the memory card I got a message saying "memory card removed". It wasn't. Now when I go to settings the phone doesn't recognise this card either! Cannot be a faulty card again so must be something on the phone. I tried the normal turning on and off again, removing the card (with phone switched off) and reinserting but no joy, phone still doesn't recognise the card even exists! Tried doing the above and same result. Googled the issue and found hundreds of pages with all sorts of suggestions but none seem to work. Please help as so far I've spent around £40 on SD cards!
