Problem with the front camera

the camera app works normally , but when i switch to front camera it freezes and force close . some times the front camera open , but not more than two times then it freezes again .

is that a hardware or software problem ? i'm running stock Gingerbread 2.3.7 , not rooted , thanks .

I suggest you not to write with so large fonts.Also,try to clear data for camera in settings-apps-all.Restart the phone.

I tried all what you said , but still the problem . will updating to ICS solve it ?

yes , i have . but i heard it's laggy , so i didn't download it till now but i'll try , can you please have a look at this problem
