screen/power saver

Hi

I’m newbie (few hours only!) to the android world of phones so apologize if this is a daft question everybody knows answer to…

Nevertheless…I wonder if there’s an app I can download that will switch the main screen off but will have a status bar/line to show time, date, messages, missed calls etc.

Just drag the notification bar (the black bar at the top) scroll down and voila

thanks, but that only wokrs when screen is 'on' even the phone is still locked. i need to press power button to turn screen on to see the status bar.

what i want is that status bar always be 'on' when screen off. just like the sreen savers on 'normal' phones....

You know that will drain your battery quite a bit, so you want your screen to be on at all times? or why do you want something to be on when the screen its off?
