As uli mentioned,try to set the location on High accuracy,it might help.

Hi My Sony Smartband only records we walking. I used iut playing hockey for wales and it said i walked 6.7 km when I was actgually running. Why is this happening can somone takle me through what i need to do so it records running please

To be able to record your running,high accuracy mode on location must be enabled.

yes it is all setup like that. Anyother ideas ir is the band faulty

That seems quite odd, what if you unpair and re-pair the band?

Also really disappointed with running measurement. I got the swr10 for Christmas, did a 40 minute run today. Afterwards I see that the app had clocked only 4 minutes running and 20 minutes walking. I the checked my running later and saw it had dropped from 4 to 2 minutes. Is this defective?
