SMS/Notification bar problem

Hey,

Recently, I have been receiving weird errors while using messaging. It said it encountered an error and was forcing to close.

It just happened to me 20 minutes ago, but I didn't notice. In the meantime, I had received a new text message.

I shut down the phone and restarted it.

The problem now is that whenever I scroll down the notification bar and select the new text message, it doesn't show the message at all. The notification light continues to flash, and the notification bar still shows the message.

I have tried to directly go to the thread with the concerned peson, without success of finding the message and deleting it.

I also unselected/selected the notification option on the messaging options.

Anyone had the same problem? Is there something I could do?

Unselecting the notification thing works... but I would be missing out a lot of SMS on the spot if I were to do so....

Have you tried unselecting notifications, switching phone off, remove battery for 5 secs then starting the phone back up and turning notifications back on.  Does this clear it up?

Also are you using the stock messaging app or one from the market?  If its the stock app you could leave that with notifications turned off and use the market one, something like Handcent or Chomp SMS.

Alternatively you could try doing a software repair/reset via PC Companion or Sony Ericsson Update Service altho be aware that this wipes your phone so make sure contacts are synced or backed up to sd card. Apps will have to be reinstalled from market.

I have tried it this morning, without success.

I am currently using the stock messaging app because the phone is not mine, I am keeping it for somebody as of right now.

I will try to software reset the phone later on.

If there is anything else, let me know!

either that or re-upload the firmware. I've a feeling it might be the third party app getting in the way.

Help!!  As of a week ago, my x10 is doing the exact same thing as danhuang. Repeated notification of a text that isnt shown in text dialog box when opened. Im able to clear it, but returns as soon as messanger is opened or another text comes in. I tried to repair it and even reset the phone to its original state, losing all my apps. Sadly, the problem remains. I found now, Im lucky to have the battery last 5-6 hrs, with the phone idle. Please help!
