Sorting Media on your X10

Hello. I was wondering if someone has any good tips on how to sort your music on your phone. Is there any way I can create different folders with music or X10 always sorts everything by album, artist etc. ? Also how do you add your own ringtons for text message notifications? Please let me know. Thanks

I was also wondering how to put custom ringtones and notifications sounds on the x10 mini...

Searching online, i've found out that if you create a notifications folders on media/audio/ of your SD card, the phone will automatically display it on the notification sounds lists configuration...

Still, i tried that for the ringtones, crating an media/audio/rintones folder and it did not recognized it...

I would like to know how to put custom ringtones, that are not necessarily mp3s that i have on my playlist!

Sorting of music files as you wish is not possible, but if you download a file manager software like Astro File Manager, you can organize your music files into different folders.

In case of ringtones, just create a folder named rigtones directly on your sd card (not with in any folders) and copy the files you would like to have as ringtone to this folder. Now when you try to set the ringtone, these files will also get displayed.

Is there any other type of file that i need to put into specific folders?

I mean, the notification sound i had to put into the media/audio folder, ringtones are straight into the SD...i wonder about videos, or games...it's hard to keep track of where to put the files when there is no clear pattern!

Anyway, thanks for the info...

I can see that other folks have covered the ringtones aspect (via the old "create a ringtones folder" tip). There's also another way - install the (free!) Tone Picker app from the Market Place and that gives you a second way to set ringtones for pretty much any app that allows user-defined ringtones - it's a very capable app, and actually one I'd probably be content to pay a small sum for.

Pair that up with RingDroid (also free!) and you can not only use pretty much any soundfile that the X10 will play (and it seems to support a lot of file formats!), but RingDroid allows you to select a segment of a track/sound or record a new one.

Both are fairly small, very usable and reliable. Oh, and did I mention that they're free!

Thanks again to the folks on this forum who pointed me at this solution earlier in the year.
