Hi,
This is the second issue I have had with my Z2 since getting it in May, the first issue was a self cracking back that Sony at first refused to repair under warranty, eventually they did.
Now, after finally deciding to use the phones waterproof feature today I am having another issue. I submersed the phone in my backyard pool (no chlorine) and recorded a snapchat message for about 10 seconds. I pulled it out, dried it off and carried on. I then went to take a photo normally about an hour later and I noticed a ton of vapour or condensation on the inside of the camera lens, great. Then about an hour and a half after that, the phone started vibrating and has not stopped since. It's been about 2 hours. It stops everynow and again for a few seconds, then it just goes off it charts again, and it is so annoying.
Yes, I turned it on and off, it just continues to vibrate. I tried to hard reset it, pushed the red button down, it just turns off, doesn't actually restart. Of course all the covers were sealed, I'm not stupid, I look after my electronics.
I was pretty set on getting the Z3/Z4 when my contract runsout in May, however after this new issue I don't think I'll bother with Sony again. I had the original Z and I had touchscreen problems. Now this. Every single Sony product I have had had some sort of issue (PS3, TV, headphones), yet I keep going back. No other major electronic I have had has suffered continious problems. I don't really enjoy speaking to Sonys customer service as they are borderline useless and I know they are going to blame 'user damage' and I am going to have to fight for a replacement/repair for simply using a feature that heavily promoted on the phone.
Does anyone have any suggestions, a Google search didn't really uncover much.
You may need to perform a software repair using PC companion. The process will erase all internal memory. You might need to charge your device for about 1-2 hours before so the device has at least 60% battery.
Make sure the device is not connected to computer or laptop and turned off (sometimes you have to press power button and volume up until the device vibrates 3 times or on some devices you have to press the small button near the SIM tray or on the back of the device).
Open PC companion->support zone->phone/tablet software update->repair my phone/tablet blue highlighted.Follow the steps given,do not connect your phone until prompted to press volume down while plugging USB cable. If PC companion does not start the repair process, you might need to run it in compatibility mode with Windows 7 (in some cases XP).
Not sounding rude, but how will resetting the memory help this?
This is a last resort before taking the device into a service. It is your choice.
Hi, sorry to hear about this.....sometimes the cameara lens can mist up with sudden changes of temp. ie from a pool to the open air & there are a few things you can do to 'dry' it off BUT the constant vibrating points to perhaps a more serious issue.....if you follow Alexdons instructions it may just be a coincidence between the two, but my advice would be that if you need to contacct your local Xperia Care Centre strongly insist on a VACUUM TEST to be carried out on your Z2 BEFORE any work is done. This test will determine if your Z2 is infact waterproof.......
Hope this helps & good luck :smileysmileywink:
So late last night the phone stopped vibrating and it hasn't since, which is good except that even when I set it to vibrate it doesn't, so the vibrate feature is gone. Second, the water vapour is still in the back camera and the front camera. I spoke to Sony support Australia, I cannot go into a Sony centre and get it vaccumed tested. It needs to be sent to a repair agent for them to perform this. I said to the Sony agent that this was not good enough, as I only have had it 8 months and this is the second time it has to be sent away. He then decided to give me a lesson in science in regards to my first issue (back screen cracking by itself) basically saying that they did it as a courtsey and there is no way that it could have cracked on its own. This has me convinced that once again this issue will be deemed as user damage.
