@MartinK not sure if this will work but try running your phone in Safe Mode for a while & try the automatic backup.....if it works fine then a 3rd party app could possibly be affecting/interferring with your auto backup

Hi...
I'll try to set the phone in safe-mode this night and see if the backup goes through tomorrow morning.
okay... i Abandoned the test of using Fail-Safe ... since it makes no sense.
Fail-Safe disables every non-stock app, which essentially makes the test pointless.
Backup is SUPPOSED to work while running the phone in normal mode. so even IF it works flawlessly in fail-safe (which i suspect) then what value would it have to me ?
I need it to work in normal mode !
I could delete / disable DoubleTwist and see if it works, since thats the only program that crashes when doing manual backup...
Safe mode would be a way to verify if this is caused by a third party app or not. But if uninstalling the app that crashes is an option for you that is also something that is worth testing.
Same annoying problem here.... I booted in safe mode, tried to backup again and got the same result.
It goes up to 50% in every item of the backup list and the stalls, nothing happen.
This result shows that there is no interference of thisd party apps. So Sony can not put the blame on others, it is SONY's fault and nobody else's.
Why something that should be simple to solve with a firmware update takes so long ? Defintely this is the last Sony stuff I buy.
