Tethering error after Lollipop update

Hello everyone.

Before updating to lollipop, i used the tethering option frequently without any issue. The moment the update completed, every time i turn on tethering, a window appears saying "Tethering error". If i then try to connect another device via tethering, it connects fine but cannot receive data. Any help with this?

After upgrading to Android new version 5.1 I am getting a error message tethering hotspot error. Sony kindly rectify it.

Hi,

That sounds strange. Could you try to download new internet settings via Settings > More > Internet settings to see if this can help? Otherwise, I suggest that you try another SIM-card in your phone to see if same thing happens.

I'm suffering from this too, It's not a carrier problem as I have recently switched from Telstra to Optus and I still have the same problem. I had a similar problem with KitKat but managed to find a working fix, but since the lollipop release it has returned!! I use the tether for traffic updates on my TomTom's, the iphone we have connects "like a dream" much to my disgust( I hate apple). But even when the tether was working on my phone I had to constantly turn it back on to connect to the net, unlike the apple which just does it! I've tried most of the solutions several times, but I'm not keen on rooting the phone to fix a tether problem!!!

Arischo's solution (14/04/20`15) to the tethering problem appears to have resolved the problem - at least the phone stays tethered and links to the net - it didn't before, tethering error and nothing! Thanks.

I had exactly the same issue with my xperia ZR. and I tried reset access point name then it works. Simple! Thank you very much.
