Sonos arc

I have just connected a Sonos arc to my Sony KD-55A8, now it will not stay on TV speakers when selected, and keeps going back to the sonos arc.

Switch the Sonos away from ARC. Or off.

My favourite bedtime reading is a Sony product manual…

If you mean when you switch on the tv, switch off the "Audio system piroritization"

This makes no difference.

I'm not sure why you want to disable your audio system and the TV seems to think the same. But, you can disable Bravia Sync, which will also prevent you from controlling the arc with the Sony remote (if the arc supports HDMI/CEC control)

You can also avoid disabling Bravia Sync by connecting it via Optical, if you care about control or if you have other devices that do support it.

AFAIK audio system prioritization will only work when turning the TV On from standby, so maybe turn it Off and check if it makes a difference when turning the TV On.

Hope this helps.

I was able to select tv speakers with an older sound bar, the only reason i want to use tv speakers is because i have the tv connected to my hi fi system via optical lead and the tv needs to be on tv speakers for this to work. If you connect the sonos with a optical lead you cannot have Dolby Atmos. Thanks David Rea

It's generally not recommended to have both HDMI ARC and Optical in use at the same time as it can cause issues, but I can't think of a way to have 2 audio systems fully functional at the same time.

Maybe just disconnect the Sonos physically to use the Hi-Fi system and reconnect it later when you need it.

This has only been an issue since connecting the sonos, as it all worked perfectly with an older sony sound bar, so it must be a compatibility issue between this model of tv a sony KD55-A8 the sonos arc.
