Hi
I moved and replaced my spark modem/router.
I ran the TV network setup wizard and used DCHP on wifi.
It connects to the router ok
But keep getting error saying wi-fi is not connected to the internet, but it actually is because all other devices connect to the internet.
The internet on the TV says connected but its not.
I tried setting up a static ip and also with cable but same issue - ethernet not connected.
I ran a test and it came up ok.
When I run the network server test that fails. Error is media server name unknown 192.168.1.64 failed.
I wonder if its a DNS issue, but when I selected DCHP it should pick up the settings automatically.
In the test area on the tv, I notice that the DNS primary is the gateway router IP. But the second DNS is blank.
I wonder if I should have both DNS's filled in but I would have thought that when I used DHCP it should select all settings automatically.
I made sure I turned off and on the router and the tv, and I turned off the wifi on the tv when I setup the cable. And I turned off the modem/router also.
Any ideas thanks. I am in New Zealand
Hi,
Can you please check if the clock settings of the TV are set to "Network" time?
Cheers
Peter
Hi
Thanks for your suggestion.
I will try that tomorrow.
Yes it was the network time. Thank you.
It was set to off and the date was reading June 2019
I set it to network time and its all good now. Internet is connected.
We had moved from one house to another and had a different modem/router than before
So I am wondering why the network time would have been off. Is that the default?
Will the network time have to be turned on again each time the tv is unplugged?
Is there a firmware update?
I'm quite sure it wouldn't be reverted again, and this is just a quirk of Android which you can test on your phone (if it's Android, maybe iOS too but never tested that). If you revert the date backwards by a year or more it wouldn't connect to the internet properly and the Play store would just cease to function, which means that Android does not support time traveling unfortunately, which is a bummer.
That said, I'm not really sure what might have caused it per se, could be one specific thing (time of the last update, etc.) or a perfect storm that caused it.
The latest software version is v6.6555, I was only able to find this model on Sony Asia Pacific and Sony Singapore
Hope this helps!
