Yes - D-Law stated it worked and Cyberwoogy indicated it might because of Chrome OS support for Cable Matters Adapter.
here is email reply from Cable Matters to me this morning after I emailed them it doesn’t work:
Thank you for contacting us. I'm sorry to hear about the trouble you're having with the USB to Ethernet adapter! Regarding the wording “but should do as others got it to work”, may I know where did you see it? Do they use the same model of Ethernet and TV as you? In fact, our Ethernet adapter was not intended for use with TVs, but with computers that run Windows, Linux, or macOS, and the adapter requires a chipset driver installed for work. However, most TVs don’t have a built-in driver from the chipset manufacturer and we can’t manually install one onto the TV, in that case, the TV would not work with our USB Ethernet adapter. Some other users reported that their TV works with this adapter, that must be because their TVs have a built-in driver from the chipset manufacturer, yet most TVs don't. When the TV has a built-in driver, our USB adapter would be plug-and-play. Although it shows no connection, the internet is actually accessible, please try to surf the internet, to verify if it works. If it doesn’t, your TV should not come with a built-in driver for Realtek(the chipset manufacturer). You can also contact the TV technical support, to see if there is any way to download the driver. We look forward to hearing back from you. Regards, Grace Cable Matters

hopefully, the AF9 owner in question sees your post and responds....as they were more than likely the only one
what is it that you want the higher bandwidth for...are you streaming high bitrate files over your local network?

Non stop wi-fi issues since October. Had enough of Sony support on this matter.

but too slow for what...what are you streaming that you think you need faster than the cable connection. I am able to play full lossless UHD rips over Plex server to the native Plex app without issue...the only reason I know it could be quicker is that when playing back over a Shield or ATV4K, the films start instantly as opposed to the 1-2 seconds that it takes on plex
Totally understand if you're finding something unusable and suffering from buffering, but I'd be very surprised if that's the case as in 99% of cases the standard ethernet (10/100) is more than adequate, especially all the usual streaming services

My remark on page 1 simply flew over peoples heads 😀 Perhaps they want the streamed programme to play double speed!

I don’t want buffering and also scrolling through 4k uhd delays. I had 2gb speed in Korea.
