buttons on the bottom of the screen don't work

hello,

since a few hours , my 3 buttons on the bottom of the screen don't work anymore. I did nothing wrong with my phone (c4) and all of a sudden they stopped working. the other part of my screen still works perfectly. and if I open my phone, the buttons on the locking screen still work to open the camera or to call someone. What can I do?

Hi @Mayaverbeek, welcome to our community!

I'm sorry to hear about your phone. Slightly_frowning_Face

Do you remember if this behaviour occurred after you installed a new system update or if you very recently installed a new application in your phone just prior to you noticing this?

I'd recommend that you start with trying out the touch screen in the inbuilt test in the phone so we can see if you are able to clear the area at the bottom of your screen in the test.. You find the test in Settings > About phone > Diagnostics > Test > Touchscreen.

If you experience the same behaviour in the touchscreen test, try rebooting your phone in safe mode. This will disable all downloaded applications and we can see if any of them is the cause of this. While the phone is rebooted in safe mode, do the same test and you can also just try using the back, home and task buttons as you would normally do.

Let me know how it went!

Hi! I have the same problem, though it occurs on certain period. I have tried the recommended steps-- safe mode, diagnostic,  still didn't work. The 3 buttons still become unresponsive sometimes.

Hi @VinTans, welcome to our community!

How often would you say that this occurs, is it only a daily basis or once a week?

Do you happen to have a screen protector on your phone? If you do, try removing it and see if you still experience the same behaviour.

If there is no change after removing the screen protector or if you don't have one, I'd recommend that you try and perform a software repair using Xperia Companion. This will delete all data stored on the internal storage in your phone and reinstall the latest available software in your phone.

Since data is being deleted it's advised to backup using Xperia Companion before you start with the software repair process.

Let me know if that helps!
