I'm away from my home and I only have my data cable with me right now. Can I use this adapter do charge my phone? I have a Sony Xperia C3.

Please tell me if it would damage my battery or my phone.

You can use it although it has a small output. Usually we tell people to avoid 3rd party chargers.
