Problem. Only charges when off.

The phone only charges when it is turned off. It does not charge the battery when it is turned on.
I have tried different chargers
I have restored it from the factory, I deleted all the content but I have not been able to solve the problem.

Let me see if you can help me, thank you.

@Ahandion did you try in safe mode

I am pretty sure it's a software issue rather than hardware, you may want to try to do a software repair rather than a reset:

So the phone keep not charging... Unless it's off?? Did you try my first advice, booting the phone in safe mode? Will it charge? Did you try different USB cables or also...

Try this.. Remove SIM and SD cards, try to charge the phone while it's on. Will it charge? When you connect the USB cable, do the phone at least an attempt to charge?

Thanks @YoGem for your answers, every time you tell me something new you give me hope

Yes, the phone only charges when it is turned off. Yes, I started the phone in safe mode and I did not get anything. Yes, I have tried several chargers.

I just do what you tell me to remove the cards but I can not load the phone while it is on.

@Ahandion After all this testing, I have just one more question for you... you may have to do this last test for me:

1) Wait the phone to turn off because the battery level goes to 0%;

2) Do not turn on the phone but instead put it in charge and note the time when you put it to charge;

3) Please note when the phone finish to charge.

Let me know how long it take for it to charge the battery when it's off.

Spoiler
My C5 take about 1 hour and 20 minutes to fully charge the battery.

@YoGen Hi, the load was completed at 3 hours and 23 minutes.
More than three hours to last the load, it is a long time?

@Ahandion yep, I don't think that's quite right... You said you tried with different chargers, but did you try also with different cables? Before asking you to contact Sony, I want to rule out the possibility of a faulty cable. Ask a friend to borrow you whatever charger they have, as long as it's regulat and not USB C it will work with your phone. Cables can be a real problem at times.

 @Thanks for your help, I have used some three or four different cables that I have around the house. Everything is the same.

@Ahandion at this point I can just think about an issue with the board, especially with the charging circuit or the battery itself, you will have to contact Local support.

I really wished I would not tell you that but sorry, that's an hardware issue Slightly_frowning_Face
