Cybershot DSC-W130 Super Steady Shot camera keeps asking to re-insert memory stick: not working

Hello All,

I am new to this forum.  I wonder if anyone can help me?  My Cybershot DSC-W130 camera keeps asking me to re-insert the memory card every time I try to take photos or upload them to my PC.  I try re-inserting memory but this does not work - it tries accessing the data, then asks me to re-insert memory card again.  This does not work.  Have had this camera for about 10 years and it has always worked well until last few months.  Have recently bought a new battery.  Do I need a new memory card?  Would be grateful if someone could tell me how to solve this problem.  Many thanks.

Hi @LuckyDog789, welcome to the Community.

This is probably a card reader issue, but you can bypass that whole procedure by using a USB cable connection between camera and computer. Let me know if you need any help with that.

Thanks for your reply.  I always use the USB cable supplied with the camera but I have the same problem.  What else can I do to solve the problem?

Hi LuckyDog789,

If you try a different memory card and it works, then it's probably a faulty memory card you've got on your hands. But if the same thing happens on more than one card, you can try to reset the camera to factory settings by going to Settings - Main settings - initialize.
