ECMXYST1M Sony Mic.

Hi all, excuse my ignorance, I have bought a ECMXYST1M mic for my RX10 IV, but cannot figure out what the cable is for. It says, "A Micrphone terminal cable is supplied for plug in power".

Is that if the 'hot shoe' is incompatible? 

I assume its not needed normally as none of the pix I have seen show it being used.

Hi there,

I believe from looking at the manual, the cable is used for recording when connected to a valid device.
