Hello Sony,
My RX100 behaves stangely.
Today I took the kids out on a trip and when I turned my RX100 the lens would move out, in and out again and on the screen would be displayed a message "Turn power off then on."
I would then do as instructed but to no avail. That message just keeps popping back on screen and it is implossible to get the camera to do anything else.
when I plug it on my computer it is identified as PMHOME (F:)
I tried downloading software update and that seems to have successfully installed "Update_DSCRX100V110.exe". I was hoping this download would solve the issue but it has not made any difference. The problem remains.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hi Cyberdum,
Welcome to the Sony Community.
I would suggest trying to reset your camera to the default settings. You can find more details on how to do this here.
Let me know how you get on?

Hi there,
Thanks for the Welcome and Thank you for getting back to me on this and trying to help.
Please see the picture. When I switch the camera on almost immediately this message pops up on the screen and it is impossible to navigate the menu. I switch off, then back on as suggested and every time I do so this message pops up and I can't do anything more. After doing so many times, at some point I was able to navigate to reset to default as you suggested. It seemed to have done that. But just as I started inputing the time, etc... that message appeared again and now it is immediate.
it appears to be a software problem.
Hi Cyberdum,
Thanks for getting back to us. We will look into this further and let you know when we have an update.
Best wishes,
Ed
Hi Cyberdum,
This could be something physical with the parts that needs to be fixed. It's better to send it to Sony repair centre to fix this.
You can find their contact details on here: https://bit.ly/2byAqx1
Also, I think I saw a video on YouTube once were someone found a temporary workaround for this issue, but not sure that's the right thing to do.
Cheers,

Hi Almou_10,
Thank you for sharing the contacts for Sony repair centre .
I'll give them a call and take it from there.
Much appreciated
ok...ok...
I found some interesting reading. Just check these posts.
In fact that issue seems to be quite common to the RX100 and beg the question.
Why Sony didn't have a recall?
For sure that is the last time I buy anything "Sony"at all!
