BDP-S370 AVI File with SRT added.

For some reason a avi file(on a USB stick) with the sub-titles(SRT)added to it will not play on my BDP-S370 or my TV which is the KDL-40EX503. Yet when I convert the file to say a MP4 file it plays OK. If both of my appliances do not support the first mentioned, then if I have to convert to another file type, then I will. Thank you for your help in this matter.

Hi there

As far as im aware, your TV and bluray player do not support SRT files.  When you are converting to MP4, are you hardcoding the subtitles into it?
