Backup applications using pre installed "backup and restore" in Jelly bean

Hello,

i have updated my XS to JB before ten days, today i wanted to re install the JB, so i tried to backup my phone (contacts, msgs, settings, appls... etc)

when i tried to use the preinstalled application "Backup and Restore" i could not back up the applications, although the application supports to backup the whole data including the applications and their data. Also, the application can provide the selection of where the user can backup the data; to the internal storage or a USB storage. In my case i could not select the applications to be backed up nor selecting the usb storage.

Any help?

I noticed this too and would also be interested - everything was greyed out!!

I know that I used to be able to back up apps and their data for sure on ICS. But none of the options were available to me in JB. Another bug?

I have installed the mentioned system application in the previous thread, i have successfully backed up al the data including the downloaded applications and their data. after a while, my phone was a little bit slow, so i decided to restart it, after restart, the phone is working normally, and the back up and restore application returned to its previous version where you cannot backup applications and their data, but the backup record from the new application is stored at the phone.

so i suggest to keep i apk file in your storage file, when you need to backup your phone, just install this version, back up your data, and performe a factory setting and what ever you wat to do, then you can restore your phone using the pre installed application which i mention that have the problem, untel Sony supports us with the best soluion.

Hello there,

It seems this backup issue is not a bug in NXT Xperias which do not support SD cards. the new application prevents from backup media files and applications with data on the internal storage.

when you plug a flash memory to your device via usb OTG cable, you can backup all the data stored in the phone; system application data, media files and downloaded apps with data.

This is a normal conditions in NXT Xperias, so do not worry about. I have tried to backup all the data to an external usb. you just try to get the OTG cable.
