Does anyone know where I can get a replacement cover for the USB port on my X10? SE thinks it is an acceptable solution for me to send my phone in and have it replaced.
All I need is a flimsy 10 cent replacement for the flimsy 10 cent original. I think I can handle the installation myself. Why does SE have to make this so difficult? I KNOW I'm not the only one this has happened to.

just know that by opening the x10 you may forfeit your warranty
I'm going to assume you are in the USA based on your "sending it in" comment.
Although I'm sure you may be able to buy the piece online, I haven't seen it, nor am I exactly sure what you could use as search terms.
Since it's not something covered under the warranty,. and it's not considered a user-replaced part.
What actually happened to it?
I have no idea. I pulled the phone out of my pocket to make a call and the cover was missing. It wasn't in my pocket or anyplace else I looked. I wasn't worried, I just assumed I could buy a replacement. Since it's just a small piece of plastic and rubber, it would take only a few seconds to replace. Two SE reps insisted that the only way to get the part was to send in the phone for repairs.

Excellent find!!!! I spent quite a while looking and I couldn't find anything....and that's saying something, because I'm usually pretty good at finding replacement parts!!
You are the greatest, thank you for that link!
Lol, glad you are a happy chappy. I have bookmarked the link for my future reference. Quite often get people asking about various bits n pieces for the phone and it looks quite a good resource to refer them too. Let us know what the customer service/delivery etc was like - don't want to be recommending them if they aren't all they seem.
