I have so far managed to install this Tv with a mono block LNB connected to its satellite input which has a built in Diseqc switch. I have also run the satellite digital auto tuning and found over 3000 channels here in the UK. The satellite dish is pointed at hotbird (13a) with the offset LNB in the monoblock able to receive Astra (19) as well., which gives the high combined number of channels. Hotbird is setup on Diseqc A and Adtra on Diseqc B. What I have failed to do so far is using the remote control switch over to the second set of channels on Astra, since the primary Diseqc position is Hotbird. I can navigate up to high numbered radio channels on Hotbird (e.g. 7368) however I cannot find any of the channels that I know I should receive from Astra. If anyone is able to provide any advice or suggestions I would appreciate it. If I find out anything else in the mean time I will post another message here.

Hi there
Normally when there is a firmware update, it is posted about a week or two later on the support download section of your TV's model number.
See:
http://www.sony.co.uk/support/en/product/KDL-42W653A/updates
However its not a full change-log and doesnt normally tell you much at all im afraid.
In regards to your issue about satelites Hotbird and Astra - Thats a bit of a specialised question and answer and id doubt it very much if someone on these forums would know (I might be wrong...). A couple of suggestions - You could try post your question to the AV Forums site, as there are many knowledgeable people on their or alternatively try contacting a TV aerial technician who specialises in satelite setups.
Cheers

I thought I would update this post since I have just discovered that a TV software update is available, so I have installed this and will try again.

Now with the latest software I am still unable to change to the Astra channels. There have been no obvious new features or options added to this software release. Does anyone happen to know if Sony produce a release log/notes when they issue new software releases for their TVs?
If anyone has any thoughts about chaning between Hotbird and Astra channels via the Diseqc switch I would appreciate any ideas (I have run out of things to try! )
Regards,
Mark.

Hi Quinnicus,
Thank you very much for these suggestions. I will try AV forums, however my problem is only with the TV interface, since I have tested the monoblock LNB with a dedicated satellite receiver box (called openbox) and it works fine, allowing both sets of channels to be viewed. I will let everyone know if I do get further with this issue.
Thanks again,
Mark.

You could try satedit to look at your lists with Satedit. http://www.sony.de/support/de/content/cnt-dwnl/prd-tvhc/sony-editor/KDL-46HX755 assuming you've got 'programme list transfer' in one of your menus.

Hi, my advice is: please check each satellite without diseq switch connecting to your TV and tune channel again for each satellite. If TV receives channel from each satellite then problem is with diseq switch and You need to make experiment to find proper diseq switch which will be operated by TV.

I have SONY KDL-55W807 and have very same problem. Hotbird (diseq A) and Astra (diseq B) don't work together. You can only get either Hotbird channels or Astra channels at one time using Sony's built-in sqtellite tuner.
At the same time both sets of channels are working fine when using the cheapest stand-alone tuner and connecting to TV through HDMI.
Did anyone managed to solve this problem?
