3D Game Performance

Hello!
I have a FJ1Z.
This is my first Vaio, and I'm *really* pleased with it.

Just a question on performance in certain 3D games. I know notebooks aren't really for gaming blah blah... but I've noticed in certain games (Quake 4, Doom 3) the graphics are poor, jagged and slow. In Unreal 2004 (which I know is using Direct3D) the same computer gives a fantastic looking anti-aliased picture, with great performance even at full 1280*800.

What am I doing wrong?

ut2004 is a completely different engine, with much lower requirements. The game is older too. But the engine is the important factor here. Games on the original half-life engine and original ut engine should work even better.

Games like Quake 4 ask a lot of the GPU too

On $ony Notebooks, Games like Doom3 and Co. = max Res. 640x480@HQ, but the Question would be :

Have i to play Games with my Notebook ?¿ Older Games until
High Dx8.1 wont kill the GPU, but dx9 and later depends on each Engine.

SplinterCell 3 run @ 1280x800 with HQ very "stable" :), but again Doom3
kills ur Notebook. Hot CPU too 😞
