Hello,
I've bought a VAIO very recently and did not receive any CD or DVD in the package. My system has a Windows XP Corporation installed and 3rd party software from Adobe, Symantec, etc.
What will happen if I need reinstalling the software for any reason? I called the store who sold me the notebook and they answered me that the license for windows XP is at the bottom (true), but what about the license for the other software? I use this computer on a store that needs all software licensed.
Thanks in advance.
Sorry, but I dont know if it is possible to edit my post, so I'm replying to it.
I forgot to mention that I did not receive a "Vaio Recovery Disc" mentioned in a PDF document inside my hard-drive. Is it normal?
Yea its normal with Viao...you dont get any CDs or nothing like that..u have to create ur own recovery CDs/DVDs...u need alot of CDs but just a few DVDs to do this depending on the size of ur hard drive.
U can go to www.club-viao.com and search under SUPPORT link or go here directly

hope this helps
Thanks, Kazm.
In my opinion, it shouldn't be normal. Sony could have done better for their customers. Many users dont have sufficient computing knowledge to do such a task. Its a big fault.
Every major producer of laptops has stopped giving the bundled (and recovery) cd's, instead they pre-install them for you and a backup can be found on a hidden partition on your hard disk.
I've only had my vaio for a few days now, so I haven't checked it. But it's always recommended of making an image of your windows partition. This way if anything happens you can put the image back and still have all your saved preferences.
