Hi,
I have a VGN-TX1HP and as per SONY it should be able to read and write all DVD's format except for RAM. I try to write DVD-R Dual layer but the computer does not recognise the disc. I tried technical help but they are useless as everytime they have one answer PLS Restore. I did the restore but still face the issue. Can anyone help me on this. I want to backup my precious data.
Thank you!

DVD-R DL isn't a standardised type of disk yet, the standard DL disks are DVD+R

That's E-Support. Fully pointless and stupid answers. HahahahaI know, scary isn't it?
Hi Kee-Lo,
Please tell me a way out. I have 5 DVD -R DL.
If I get those written by some other DVD -R DL writter will that be read by my Vaio?
I look forward to a helpful hint.
Thanks!

What program are you using to write DVD-DL?
Sorry for the earlier post.
I am using the originally provided Roxio
Module Name: Roxio DigitalMedia SE
Build: 2.3.5a
Serial Number: SC-203B14I
Copyright: Sonic Solutions 2005
Off topic: After 15 years of using a PC, I have concluded that adding extra stuff doesnot necessarily make us productive. I have not tried to use other softwares for this problem. I thought Sony will update the software if and when there is an update but to my absolute horror the 1st thing the tech support answered is restore and remove all the updates. Why did they send notification for updates that they think are not working? I think Toshiba as a great product line. Next time will stik with them.
Now the tech support has concluded that my system should be repaired in their service centre. But i doubt if they even know what they are talking about.
Please let me know a analytical tool that will tell me what exactly the issue with my DVD writer is. I have successfully test all the formats except DVD -R DL and RAM I think RAM is not supported but if the DVD writer is supposed to work for Dual Layers then what is the best software or analytical tool available to see what is happening.
Thanks in advance.
