Hi,
Since i have noticed i'm not the only one experiencing this problem, im placing a new thread.
I recently bought an FS-215Z and have trouble burning DVD's
I tried several brands of blank media, but all fail to burn succesfully, except Verbatim DVD+R. Up till now this is only one that burns succesful.
I searched the forum and found that other FS-215Z owners are experiencing exactly the same problem.
The drive in my VAIO appears to be a Pioneer DVR-K15.
I have checked the pioneer site for a possible firmware update but there is no release yet.
What can i do, and are there other FS-215Z users that have the same problem ?
Only Verbatim? Yes, a new Firmware should fix the problem. Sounds like a little contract between Sony and the maker of Verbatim. Incompatibility like these isn't normal. They was some fingers on this drive which shouldn't be there.
But have you tried Intenso? They are good too.
Hi, I have a FS215Z.
I've just burnt 2 dvd's with no problems, one was a Traxdata and the other a Infiniti. I used Nero. However I too have the same problem with the firmware update you mentioned in the other post.
As a matter of interest; what is your current firmware version? Mine is: 1.00
It might be worth pointing out that I have done a clean install of xp pro without much of the 'Add on' software that sony seem to install.
My firmware is also 1.00
I noticed that the firmware updates available on the net are not official firmwares provided by Pioneer. From previous experience this normally go's well but in our case these firmwares do not seem to work.
I also mailed my problem to Sony Support. I received a replay in which they ask me the exact brands DVD i used. I also pointed out that other FS-215Z owners have the same problems.
Hopefully this will bring us a step further to an official frimware update or a solution of some kind..
webraiser thanks for the info - let us know what Sony have to say when (if) they get back to you
