Can anyone confirm the configuration of the memory for the FS115S.
Is it one 512Mb module or two 256Mb modules.
I'm sure I've read it is two 256Mb modules, but this seems to compromise upgrading to 1024Mb by having to buy two 512Mb modules.
I don't want to open the case to check as it would invalidate my guarantee.

Everest Home Edition will identify what modules are installed at present.
i dont think it will validate your warranty to upgrade your ram.
Btw your FS115S is
Memory Installed :
Slot 1 : 256 Mb
Slot 2 : 256 Mb
Maximum memory: 1024 MB
Compatible Memory modules: VGP-MM512G
Opening the case to check your RAM will not invalidate the warranty, provided you do it properly. Buying non-Sony RAM WILL invalidate the warranty, but since Sony RAM is a ripoff that nobody should buy, I'd just keep the old RAM around in case you need to send it in for repair and do a quick switch before it goes.
Yeah, why not buying Sony RAM? Because there is no Sony RAM in your VAIO.
Well, I wasn't planning on buying Sony RAM as I can get 512Mb modules for £55 quid through Crucial compared to £170 from Sony.
However, it is a bit of a rip off providing 2x256Mb modules rather than 1x512Mb as it really screws up the ability to upgrade to 1024Mb. Not surprising though as it would cost you £340,00 through Sony to buy them. I wonder how much the modules cost Sony?

Ouch that really is a big difference.
It's a big difference, I've ranted and raved about it a few times lol. +1 reasons not to buy Sony, frankly. They only have themselves to blame.
It's terrible really, nearly £115 profit! It's definately an antitrust case if you ask me.
