HD sizes are real or nominal?

Hi mates
I deleted my recovery partition and installed a new os..
When i check up my hd size it shows 93 GB when it should be 100GB
now the things are two:
-recovery partition is still somewhere in my hd,hiding or..
-100GB are just "nominal" infact 93 GB are 100.000.000 KB (more or less)

what do you think?

Hi I haven't done the maths but 93Gb formatted from a 100Gb HDD sounds about right.

My 160Gb HDD shows as 149Gb formatted
