help an alarm keeps going of on my vaio going mad :-(

Hi all this is my first post so please bear with me i am new to this forum
ok i have a vaio desktop model PCV-RX402
it has been a great machine for the last year for me but a few months ago an alarm in my pc kept going of and a phone call to sony said it needs to be sent in to be sorted (now out of warante) so i investigated a bit and found out it was due to my firewall (zone alarm not a plug for them jsut for info )
so i found out i needed an update from them and this sorted the problem no alarms ect for a few months now it has started again flashing purple and blue light and a loud singal alarm pitch from the pc i have tryd to update my firewall and i have uninstaled it to try that but still dose the same now
this might help someone if they know when it happens

works fine while browsing no alarm ect
happens when i appear to be doing a heavy task i converting things from my camcorder (sony) to vcd ect
or playing some games
could this be my processor that is over heating or something
dose anyone know how i can find out if it is overheating ect i have done a complete reboot of my machine took every thing out so no program probs ect any one know what else would set this alarm of cause sony dont seam to know what it could be
thanks all in advance hope someone can make sense of this for me

Hi,

All you need to do is clean the fans out, this alarm is telling you the system is dangerously too hot.

A hoover should sort it out for you, or a cloth if it's intense.

thanks kee_Loo i kinda thought that but was hopping there was a way to look and find out if things were to hot
i will now pull it all out loads to disconect and i will give it a good clean out and let you know in an hour or so if it has worked sounds about right man that was a fast reply
i will post back asap and let you know how i get on
do you know if i should leave it for a bit befor getting in there with the hover or should it be ok with a bit of comon sense used to were is safe to touch
thanks again Kee_Loo

Brian,

Make sure to earth yourself by touching a radiator and wearing an anti-static band, but thats only if you touch components, which you won't need to do.

Make sure the power is off in the case.

If you want to clean the motherboard, fans etc then an air duster is a good investment - you will be surprised at the amount of dust that can accumulate.

Hi all sorted out now you were right cloged with dust and the fans were just a mess with fluff dust every thing so i will clean it out more often when i moved my pc last year i had cleaned it out then and it wasent to bad but starnge that sony wouldint or couldint think of this problem it would have cost a few ££ for me to post it to them and also there charges and they had said it would be my hard drive so probably would have cost loads just for a simple clean out 10 mins
just gose to show how good this forum can be for help thanks
Kee_loo you saved me loads of £££££ that sony would have been happy to take
thanks 🙂
still amazed how fast a reply i got to this problem well sorted (i hope anyway i will know soon trying to burn a vcd now all seams ok thou )

Well we like to sort problems out as quickly as we can.
I can't believe Sony didn't think of this, but then again all they care about it making money.

Ye i know i am well dissapointed with sony now as such a big company you would think that helping out the buyers of there products would be more important that taking more of there hard earnd cash that way people would buy more from them again and again but then thats big names for you
all works spot on now no problems no mater what i do now so an easy fix its a shame more people dont get told about cleaning out the pc more often it would probably save people loads of cash and problems as i would think it would or could cause alot more damage if left with things overheating
and i did a search on here and looks like no one has left a thread about that alarm going of befor so i wonder how many people have sony had send them there pc's ect and took loads of cash for just a simple clean out
never mind all ends well i just hope loads read this before contacting sony with simalar problems
thanks again

Actually Snipes asked me this question Friday in the solutions room.

I do agree if people kept their PCs cleaner there would be less problems.
