I have just purchased a K215b notebook from Comet. After discovering I have no recovery disks and after having spoken to the not-so helpful Comet staff - I've been refered to Sony Support.
Nobody picks up the phone and I had to abandon my place int he queue after 30 minutes!
Could somebody please let me know if not having the 2 recovery disks in pack is normal? and is it normal for the laptop to heat up quickly and make a terrible whirring sound when playing dvds?
All help is appreciated
The disks should be in the box, and it should be Comet who make the arrangements to get them for you as they're clumsy and lost them.
Unfortunately, there is no search facility on this Forum.
It could be that you have one of the models which require you to make your own recovery disks - Check your documentation.
If you establish that your machine should have come with recovery disks, I would hotfoot it back to Comet and bang my fist on the counter.
Unless it was exdisplay etc and sold as seen it is their responsibility.

LOL my dad does that (bang his first on the counter).
Thank you for your reply. I may have to hotfoot it to Comet this Sunday. The prospect does not fill me with joy. So far, so disappointed with my purchase. I hope things look up.
Thanks for the info. I have K215b, the manual says you may or may not have disks, but does not specify which models should have the disks.
If I have a `create your recovery discs` icon in my system tray, does this mean I create my own?
Sorry for all the questions but I am a bit of a novice.
Aye, thats a fair assumption.

How cheap of Sony.
My friend has a HP Pavilion and he had to make his own recovery DVD too
Well my K series S model came with a recoery DVD so maybe they just make you do it for the base model(s). Punishment for not spending enough money or something
ahhh so its just a ploy to get punters to pay more
