Lan Connection problem of my Vaio

I have a Vaio A117 with a Lan card 1000Mbs and i can't comunicate with other computer of 10/100 LAN. There are particular set up to solve this problem?

Do you have a firewall running?
Have you enabled it to let network traffic through?

i cannot see the computers of the workgroup of the lan but i can connect me in internet through the lan.

Make sure you share the folders you wish to use.
