Overheating???

My VGN-S4Z seems to be getting scorching hot after a few seconds of loading up it stands on a solid surface and the vents are clear one guy in an unofficial forum stated that he keeps his on for days and yes it gets hot but not to worry.......................i'v heard about thermal tape one the cpu melting in some models could this be the case here cos it does get really hot!!???

It cools down when off really fast i tried downloading software like motherboard monitor and prime 95 but they just caused major errors on my system by bleeping continously but not opening is there anything i can do or buy that will kep my laptop cool whilst operating??

Although this isn't recommended by Sony, I upgraded the BIOS on my S4 using the newly released S5 BIOS. This reduced the CPU temperature by 5C.

Obviously done at own risk . . . .

I'm going to be undervolting my S4 sometime this week to try & increase battery life and further reduce the temperature.

Prime95 will make your computer run at 100% CPU usage, it is normally just used to stress test a CPU.

Motherboard monitor probably won't work on an S4 - try running Mobilemeter instead.
