Say you run notepad, type a few notes. When done you close Notepad, and a popup asks if you want to save: yes, no, cancel.
When the popup occurs, there is a beep. The beep is my question. I cannot make it go away, nor can I lessen its volume.
I have turned off sound completely using the volume control; turned off windows sounds in the control panel, even change the sound scheme or appointed sounds. It appears this one is built in.
It's really annonying. It occurs any time there's a popup window with the exclamation asking if I want to do something, in any app or event.
On my desktop I can indeed turn that sound off, change it's volume.
Any ideas? I'm thinking it may be in the bios.
Thanks.
Windows is using the PC Speaker for some strange reason, this used to happen on a friend's PC.
The best thing to do is reinstall the sound driver.
Well yeah, it's using the speaker...that's the problem
But I'll try your idea, it gives me hope. I'm not sure this beep has always been there. Fingers crossed--will let you know if that works.
Anybody else?
