hi community,
recently I'm looking for helping hands in regard to following problem:
GRT816S with PIONEER DVR-K12D
instead of the shipped with OEM Windows XP Home installed Windows XP Pro (full orig vers) and all Windows and regulary updates recommended by Sony through viao-link already done, means v1.10 dvd update for the above DVR-K12D. The update process was successful without any fault message.
Now, my DVD can't read anything on disks furthermore, no blank CD/DVD, no Sony Recovery Disk - only the orig Windows XP Pro is readable currently.
What and how shall I do to solve the problem?
Thanks.
Is there any special "ASPI driver" necessary? I want to make sure I take the right one. Please can you advice, thanks!
Just press on the download now button, they work with all Windows.
@Kee-Lo
Even I downloaded on your link given aspi_471a2.
Running the application and following message comes up:
ERROR: ASPI is not properly installed
Please advice, thanks.
Ah as I thought!
Can you download and run this and tell me what it says?
It's a checker to see why it's not properly installed.
now tried under a second run it comes up
WINDOWS XP - Time Stamp Creation
ASPI32.SYS 4.71.2
WOWPOST.EXE 4.6 (1021)
WINASPI.DLL 4.6 (1021)
WNASPI32.DLL 4.71.2
Does this help you?
Is this the install?
Now restart the VAIO if it is, and tell me if your DVDs work....
If it does, then Sony owe me some dough
I've done as you described - and I'm afraid nothing on DVD's work .... anything else I can try under your helping hands?
Strange, I found a ASPI driver from Adaptec in the http://www which is version 4.72. But on the Adaptec site you can download only version up to 4.71.
Adaptec site (version 4.71)
CHIP Online site (version 4.72)
God ASPI has a lot to answer for!
BTW: ASPI Drivers 4.71 are the most stable drivers under Windows XP, and it is very surprising to see how many applications use it!
Stick with ASPI 4.71 from the Adaptec Website!
