Hello I'm new here. I've bought a S4HP in Spain last week, and I've been testting everything on the PC. Everything seems to work well, but the optical drive don't read CD-RW media.
Description of the problem:
I'm having problems playing CD-RW,
both types (1-4X CD-RW media never works) and
10X CD-RW sometimes works (recorded 10x CD-RW) and sometimes doesn't (usually with blank CD-RW), I use first brands like
TDK, Imation, Samsung, Verbatim and EMTEC for CD-RW media.
I'm trying the same CD-RW with a Sony DRU-510 dual DVD writer and other drives and it works.
No problems playing and burning DVDs
I've called to Sony support in Spain and after a system restore they offered me take away the PC and repair it or a new PC. I've choosen to repair it because the PC works well (I've testted everything, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Moden, Ethernet Touchpad, USB...)
The overall perfomance and construction is good but this problem with CD-RW is very unpleasant for me because I've paid with non-defectuos Euros
and I will wait for a week or two.
As soon as the S4 comes back repaired I will tell you.
Hello again, finally the Internet shop offered me a new computer, and now I have a new one. I'm testting eveything, but the CD-RW problem has gone with this computer.
I'm thinking about a memory upgrade with Kingston compatible 512MB module, it costs me 100 Euros. I will buy it in two, three month, first I will test well the VAIO. If someone has info about kingston or other memory modules compatible with VAIO S4HP (it works fine?) I will accept any suggestion.
Thank you in advance.
