VGN-FS115S DVD but no CD reading

A couple of weeks back my CD stopped working, it'll read DVD but will not see CD or blank CD or blank DVD.
Rolled it back, reloaded DVD firmware and nothing.

Welcome to Club Vaio. My brothers system was the opposite it wouldn't see DVD but read CD's. We tried everything too. The only solution is to reformat your C drive. Go to Sony Link and download all the updates into a folder on D drive ready to install. Save all your favorites and connection settings to D drive and any pictures whatever you want to keep and reformat C drive with your recovery software. Get the windows updates first then install the Vaio updates. It sounds drastic but my brother and his friends are a programmers and if they can't get it working, no one can. Having said that see if KeeLo or Rich can suggest anything.
