guys just purchased a secondhand floppy drive for my pcv-v1 the drive in question is model number - PCGA-FD5 i was lead to believe it was a usb affair its not!
need a cable to connect it to my pc any suggestions?
Since you have a PCV-V1 you're going to have to connect it via one of your usb ports.
I'm assuming the floppy drive is either a parallel or serial type connection.
You can get Serial-USB and Parallel-USB cables. Just do a search on google.
hi
what do you mean serial or parallel type connection?
What connection does it ACTUALLY have?
It looks like a parallel connection. Do you have a similar looking port on your machine - printers commonly used this before the advent of USB.
I'm pretty sure that drive only works with the PCG-505 notebooks.

does that mean even if i get a cable to convert and connect to my pcv-v1 it wont work? is it purely a drive to work with the 505?
The floppy there isn't for the V1
I'm pretty sure there is no cable available to convert the drive. I would just buy a cheapo USB drive and hide it away so that it doesn't detract from the appearance of your V1.
