"Incompatible Image" during recovery [:(]

:slight_frown:
Problem with old PCG-109M.

It has crashed which has required a recovery (so I am told).

Recovery goes ok (with backup copies of the recovery discs) until it gets to 74% when an alarm comes up saying the image is incompatible.

I will be re-copying the recovery discs and trying those. Obviously, we don't want to do the FULL recovery since I am sure there is plenty of stuff on the "D" drive we would rather keep.

Any ideas??

Could we be trying the wrong discs )from another laptop?)
Could the copied CDs be faulty?
Could the hard drive have a hole in it??
