Hi!
I just got a brand new RA304 and it is a gorgeous machine...except that I can't listen to music through the wireless network media receiver in the living room. The contents of the server are shown all right on the tv-screen, but once I choose a song it palys for about 10 seconds and then breaks off and comes back again after a while. Very irritating.
There are a few concrete walls between the study(where the Vaio is) and the living room and the distance is about 10 m. How can I check if the signal is too weak and if it is, is there a way to make it stronger?Could there be another reason for this?:smileycry:
i got the RA304 aswell, however after a long time spent setting that damn media reciever up, i am able to play music and video with no cut out.
I mean 10m is no distance at all, however there is not really another explanation for this problem. On mine if Norton is on i cannot access my computer and view my stuff, do u suffer this problem, or is it only me?
When i am browsing through the stuff, the menus are slow, but probably just cause it is wireless and it has to stream the stuff.
OH WAIT, I WAS JUST TESTING PLAYING THE MUSIC AND RIGHT NOW, IT CUT OUT AND SAID PLAYBACK ERROR! IS THIS WHAT YOU GET? HOWEVER IT DID NOT COME BACK ON FOR ME.
I turned norton off to access, but then i turned it back on and a while into the song it cut out, i believe that it is norton causing the problem if you are using norton.
damn norton
it cut out with norton off, what is this, KEEPS TELLING ME PLAYBACK ERROR, SAY 3 mins into a 4 min song.
anyone know why
i dont normally listen to music through the media reciever

In addition to cutting off, my machine also stops all playback by stating: "failed to retreive this file".
Ditch Norton and use ZoneAlarm
Sorry, but I don´t think its a Norton issue. I´ve turned it on and off and the result is the same.
The latest news is that I called the Vaio support. They told me to install the latest update from the website. I did and the receiver worked fine:smileyhappy: for ABOUT FIVE MINUTES::smileycry: Then I got my usual message of failing to retreive the file. The support person didn´t think it could be distance issue, since there is contact with the receiver. Well, I´m back in square one again, unfortunately. Testing this thing takes ages and I´d really like to get to use it now. Isn´t there anyone out there who actually uses these gadgets? I thought it was such a great idea to get rid of the CD charger in the living room...:smileyconfused:
its certainly good for watching recorded tv and stuff but not sure about music.
i have it attached to my tv but i heard it can be attached to the music player and playback that way. Not Sure. I dont use it for music, just playback from computer
sorry
