Removing Intel/Windows/ATI stickers

Well, it's not really a hardware question, as this forums says...

It is a good idea to remove the small stickers from Intel, microsoft and ATI placed below the keyboard next to the touchpad? Will they leave marks?
The two big Sony Vaio specifications stickers has been removed easily, but the others seems to be better glued.

I've got a Sony VAIO VGN-A497XP laptop, if it matters.

I had problems. Have VGN-A317S & T2XP (like you don't know if model is relevant). Took intel & Microsoft off, result nasty sticky gunge. Tried to remove with nail varnish remover ( yes I know, but it works on glass) and removed paint with gunge. Tried to stick the stickers back - didn't work. My advice is don't try it.

I had no problems. My VAIO is sticker free, unless the stickers on the bottom.

But it could be easier to sell the VAIO with stickers. And you the stickers are good prevent for shiny spots.

I kept mine on to protect the paintwork underneath, as it's already going in other places.

I used pure ethanol to remove the glue and it works quite well. At least it's better then nail varnish remover

Where do you get pure ethanol? (I would also ask what it is but wouldn't understand your answer)

Thanks for the feedback, all of you!

It seems like alcohol is the solution to my problems,
at least the sticker problem
