S4XP - What is the 'Adaptive' icon in the tooltray?

Hi Everyone,

What is the 'Adaptive' icon in the tooltray? It doesn't have any menu and I cannot kill it. I have searched on the internet with no success.

Any help would be really apreciated.

Cheers

Andy

Adaptive is a power setting for the CPU. This means it will change speed dependent on load.
I don't know what the S4XP specifics are, but this is is what it is. If you go to:
Start>ControlPanel>PowerOptions
You will find it in there. On my K115Z it is in Vaio Power Management which needs to be enabled in advanced to change the specific settings.

Have you tried to right click on it? I use speedswitch XP to manage my power settings on the tool tray. With that I can right click and change it to Max performance or Max Battery.

HTH.

Hi There,

Thanks for the info, I can see it in power management.

There is no menu if you right click on it. I can change the speed settings from the power/battery icon though.

I also notice that adaptive was set for when the machine was on the power supply, I have changed this to performance and now the machine is going twice as fast! Strange that this is not on by default.

Once again thanks for the help.

Cheers

Adaptive is best for battery use, when you're not at the desk.
