S5XP Memory Question

Hi All

I have just got my new S5XP, to replace my faulty S4XP.

Please could you tell me what memory configuration this laptop has?

I don't want to take the thing apart to look at the existing chip.. Is the 1gb onboard or in a slot under the keyboard?

Is the pre-installed 1gb 533MHz or 400MHz RAM?

I want to upgrade to 2gb and dual channel and plan to go to crucial or kingston.. I assume this would not invalidate my warrranty?

Hi Richard and welcome to the forum

According to Sony’s specifications there is 1024 Mb in slot 1 (usually under the keyboard) and one empty slot on the underside of your notebook. If you visit the Crucial site and use their System Scanner this should confirm the configuration and also give the timing of the existing module.
