software on recovery DVD

Hi,

I've upgraded my Vaio k115s with XP Pro. Offcourse, I do mis the programs on de Vaio recovery DVD now, like, the simple DVD burn program, the desktops, one of the drivers (I think the one for the memory stick) and, most important, the extra funcions to change screen brightness and to change volume with the Fn+F3-F6 combinations.

Who can tell me where to find this kind of stuff on the original recovery DVD? It's out there, somewhere.......but, where?

Thanks in advance for al suggestions!

It's the original DVD wich comes with the Vaio.

There is a driver section on DVD, indeed. However, the software wich comes with the Vaio originaly, is nowhere to find on the DVD. I think Sony has made a kind of an image of it, cause there are some big files on the DVD, like 'sony.pac', 'sony.img', and 'sony.IO1', sony.IO2', and sonyIO3'. I think it possible the extra software is in these maps, cause I can't find it in a sort of an extra map on te dvd.

Also, wich driver do I need to get back the functionality of the funtions of the keyboard? (F2-F6)?

Anyone?

Can you not download the original driver and utilities package from Vaio-Link ?

The software is indeed hidden in the image which the recovery routine uses to recover the VAIO

The link on the site doesnt work.........by the way, you can download the drivers and utils over there, but, not the software, like the dvd player, I think......

Is there a way to unpack the images from the original DVD of is this prohibited

More important for me is, by the way, the fast link buttons, F2 to F6. Which driver should take care of this:smileyconfused:

They don't allow you to download the software on the site, nor extract them, but they're in PAC files, so your favourite search engine might help?

Yeah! This is real fun...........I found a program which can extract the .pac files from the dvd. However, you'll get 100 of .exe files with names like W-SP-00-89234-45566.exe

This is gonna be trial and error

I think I'm gonna try all of them, rename the files so that I know them for the future, and re install my OS!

There are also programs on the original DVD wich are not on the original install of the vaio. Fun.......

I hope I can find my function keys driver somewhere between the strange files............
