hey, do i always have to have my battery in the laptop while i am using electricity
i have a floppy disc stuck in my A:/, how can i remove it without damaging the drive?
It is not necessary to have a battery installed if youa re always using electricity....But if there is a hiccup in the power supply, you will lose all unsaved work immediately...with a battery instaled, the battery kicks in and your work is still there...
If the floppy is stuck, it is probably due to the metal cover on the floppy being bent.
Floppy drives are pretty cheap for desktops and easy to replace but very expensive for laptops .
If you are not sure, then take the drive to a laptop repairer who will get the disk out for you quickly and unless the floppy has damaged the drive, it should work fine again.
Personally, I would physically remove the floppy drive from the machine and get the screw drivers out. carefully remove the covers and take a look. oftent eh floppy just pops out. If it does not, you may need to look deeper to find the cause of the sticking. IT SHOULD NOT be necessary to bend anything to remove the disc.
If all fails, just spend £40 on a new external floppy drive (USB).......
The thing is, will the VAIO boot up from this floppy?
That's one thing you need to consider before buying the LaCiE.
Won't boot up at all with a disc stuck in the A: drive
I was talking about the LaCiE Dave.....
Maybe it is the boot up disk that is stuck in the A drive.........
No I'm refering to Dave's link to DABS.
Can you boot a VAIO with it?
