Hi folks
I have just had to re-install XP on my VAIO PCG-GRT716S and I forgot to back up some web links. Can someone remind me of the link to the VAIO Download centre where I can get drivers etc....
And now a moan - Is it just my Notebook that is an expensive coaster or do other folk have similar probs....
1) When I create CDs or DVDs of ANY type or format on ANY of my desktop PCs.... about only 5% of them can be read by my VAIO and we are talking hundreds of disks here. WHY IS THAT? Could it be due to a cheap optical drive? or maybe it's more sinister like Sony purposely doing this with their firmware?
2) My VAIO has a pretty good all round spec so why is it that no matter what RPG game (Morrowind, Call of Duty, UT2004, Vampire Masquerade, Never Winter NIghts to mention a few) I install, none of them are playable - the mouse behaves like an elastic band is so sensitive that the games are unplayable no matter what I do with the game options or windows tweaks???
Other than the above 2 MAJOR ISSUES the notebook can pretty much handle everything else I use it for.....
3) I always have 3 monitors listed in device manager, 2 default and 1 Sony LCD. The 2 default can be disabled but not uninstalled.
4) I use and external USB mouse but no matter how much I try, it is IMPOSSIBLE to uninstall the touchpad - WHY???
BTW I have not used the recovery disk but instead have purchased XP Pro in an attempt to solve the first 2 issues..... issues 3 & 4 remain tho.....
Just for the record I have over 20 years experience as an Analyst / Programmer, Software / Hardware Engineer and IT Technical Consultant so I'm not a newbit.....LOL.... Maybe I just can't see the wood for the trees? LOL
Thanks m8, much appreciated:smileygrin:
Sounds bad to me that the games are so sensitive.
I was going to suggest changing the touchpad's sensitivity
As for the CDs, seems sony optical drives are riddled with problems
