USB-2 PCMCIA problems on PSC-FX405

I have connected a PCMCIA cardbus to my PCG-FX405 to provide 4 x USB-2 ports.
It works fine with most devices.
BUT if it is connected when I burn a CD, I get a 'blue screen' Windows crash a few minutes into the burning process (which starts off fine).
Any ideas what is happening, why, and what I can do about it, please?
Thanks.:smileyd_oh:

Have you checked for hotfixes and updates on Vaio-Link ?

Yes, thanks - I check that site regularly , and have just done so again now. Nothing applicable there tho'.
I have upgraded the installed Windows to SP2 through their website, and have also upgraded RAM to the max of 512MB - otherwise no major changes.
The place where I bought the PCMCIA suggested it was caused by some loss of power? - or hardware conflict with my CD burner. But, as they then talked about replacing the entire motherboard, I'm not sure they had any real idea?
It is just a pain to have to unplug the card before burning a CD, and I would like to solve it if possible.

9 out of 10 times power can be problematic with PCMCIA, for example a friend who has a C series picturebook got a wireless card and it keeps turning itself off due to low power
