Dear ALL,
Could you help me please?
Vaio VGN-B1XP with Win Xp sp2.
When I boot up and log in my office network, after running virus checker autimatically, nothing appears. Tried to ctrl+alt+del, then start any application from task manager, but nothing I could do.
But I could run system restore, then, tried to restore to the previous configurations, but no success.
Would anyone have any idea? and what I could do?
I have not tried the recovery discs, but not sure it will success.
I am wondering if something wrong on the vaio auto upgrade or incompatibility with XP...
Thank you very much
Thats strange... I would do a full restore to see if it persists.
Have you tried starting in Safe Mode to eliminate a driver problem?
Thank you for your comments.
I have tried to "disable" ALL of the startup items.
Then, it worked now.
So, question now is which item is wrong.
Next, I have "disabled" only the followings:
- Acrobat Assistant
- Auto Filter (sony/ sonic..)
- Microsoft Office
- Winzip Quick Pick.
Then, it seems to be ok.
I suspect the sony's one "Auto Filter" may be the one because it caused a problem when I installed Illustrator.
So, "disabled" only the "Auto Filter".
Then, now it was ok; Desktop and taskbar appeared as normal.
But this sounds very strange, as sony's harmed sony's machine.
Probably, I MUST NOT autoupgrade vaio software???
Where could I obtain the stable version?
Also, does this mean I will never be able to upgrade???
Where could I found such bug reports? and why it has not
been informed???
It would be grateful if you would give me some more advice.
Thank you very much, sincerely.
Unfortunately it is not uncommon for Sony upgrades to cause problems! The best advice is to create a restore point before any installation of new software or upgrade. If all goes belly up you can always roll back.
Also, if everything is working as it should don¿t mess with it.
What version of SonicStage is on the VAIO at the moment?
There are some "SonicStage".
SonicStage ver 2.1.00.06071
SonicStage Add on for Vaio ver 2.1.00.06071
SonicStage Mastering Studio is ver 1.3.00.06210.
I think that the third one is related to the startup problem
by "Auto fileter"?
In fact, SonicStage also caused a problem when I tried to
install Adobe Illustrator.
Thank you very much.
If you don't use SonicStage I would uninstall it.
