I'm starting to regret I bought myself a Vaio.
8 months ago I bought a Dell 17", it's huge and a pain to carry around but I have never had any problems or difficulties with it:
* Wireless LAN worked immediately
* Battery fitting tight and nice
* The fan was running a bit to much I thought so I called the "local" (=Swedish) support and they guided me instantly so I could correct it!
2 months ago I bought a VGNSZ2VP/X.CEZ with 2 Gb RAM because I wanted a lighter complement to my 17" Dell and also because it's nice looking piece of mashine...
* I still haven't figured out the Wireless LAN
* The battry is loose and making annoying sounds... (look another post I wrote about it).
* Telephone support...? Yeah I suppose I can call Sony UK and try to have a nice conversation in english about tech-problems...
* Twice as expensive as my 17" Dell, 120 Gb HD, 1Gb RAM.
CONCLUSION
Well, so far Dell wins by 10-2.
Sony takes some points for its size and outlook...

Well, I guess I asumed they speak english like they do for buying via the phone, instead of online buying, even though it's a swedish phonenumber...
However I have to confess I haven't tried yet :smileyblush:

I would be useless if I had to speak to Swedish tech support, at least you can communicate in both English or Swedish..:smileygrin:
If you post us further details on your Wireless LAN problem perhaps someone here will be able to help...:smileyhappy:
Unfortunately I can't help with the battery problem...:smileysad:
It's one thing to take your time and write and another to speak live...
I'll try and phone the support tomorrow and then we'll see. If that doesn't work I'll be back :smileygrin:
